Part Load Transport — Shared-Truck Freight Across India
Don't fill a whole truck? Share it. Pay for the weight or volume your goods actually take — a cheaper way to move 50 kg to a few tonnes between cities.
Part load (also called LTL — less-than-truckload) means your consignment shares a truck with other shipments going the same way, and you pay only for the space you use. It is the economical choice when you have more than a courier parcel but not enough to justify booking an entire truck.
Who it's for
- Small businesses and traders moving stock between cities
- E-commerce and D2C sellers shipping bulk orders
- Anyone with roughly 50 kg to 3 tonnes that will not fill a truck
- Partial household or a few large items moving long-distance

Part load charges — estimate ranges
| Type | Estimated rate | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Per kg (weight-based) | ₹5 – ₹18 / kg | Lower on high-volume lanes; higher for short or remote routes |
| Per CFT (volume-based) | ₹18 – ₹45 / CFT | Applied when volume outweighs actual weight |
| Minimum booking | ₹700 – ₹2,500 | Short-haul vs long-haul minimum charge |
Market estimates only. Final cost depends on route, distance, weight vs volume, packing and pickup/delivery access. Always compare quotes before booking.

Frequently asked questions
What is part load transport?
Part load (LTL) means your goods share a truck with other consignments heading the same way, and you pay only for the weight or volume you use — instead of hiring a whole truck. It is cheaper for shipments that do not fill a vehicle.
How is part load charged — by weight or volume?
By whichever is higher. Transporters calculate both the actual weight (per kg) and the volumetric weight (per CFT), and bill on the greater of the two, so light-but-bulky goods are priced on volume.
Is part load cheaper than a full truck?
Yes, when you have a small-to-medium load. You only pay for the space you occupy. Once your goods approach a full truckload, a dedicated Full Truck Load (FTL) booking usually becomes more cost-effective.
How long does part-load delivery take?
Typically a little longer than a dedicated truck, because the vehicle consolidates and drops multiple consignments. Plan a few extra days versus FTL; exact transit time depends on the route.
Do I get a GST invoice and e-way bill?
Yes. You receive a GST invoice, and for consignments valued above ₹50,000 an e-way bill is generated as required under GST rules.
Are my goods insured during part-load transport?
Transit insurance is available as an option, covering the declared value of your goods against loss or damage in transit. Declare the correct value and keep the invoice/LR for any claim.
