Born From a Real Problem
In 2018, PackersBazaar co-founder Rahul Gupta shifted his family from Delhi to Sonipat. He hired what appeared to be a reputable moving company — complete with a professional website and glowing reviews. What arrived was two workers with a rented tempo, no packing materials, and no insurance. Three antique pieces were broken. The company disconnected its phone the next day.
Rahul learned he was one of millions. According to industry estimates, over 40% of complaints to consumer forums in India relate to packers and movers fraud — fake companies, inflated bills, held-hostage goods, and zero accountability. The problem was systemic: any person with a tempo could create a website, buy fake reviews, and appear legitimate overnight.
In 2019, Rahul partnered with IIT Delhi alumna Priya Sharma and former IBA official Amit Kumar to build PackersBazaar.in from Sonipat, Haryana. Their mission was simple but ambitious: create the first moving directory in India where every single listing is genuinely verified — not just self-declared. No company gets listed without GST verification, a physical office check, background verification of owners, and a review audit.
Today, PackersBazaar.in serves over 5 lakh customers annually across 500+ Indian cities. We've rejected over 8,000 company applications that failed our verification process. And we're just getting started.
