Address Change for Aadhaar, PAN, Voter ID After Moving

Complete process to update your address on Aadhaar, PAN, voter ID, driving licence, bank, and other documents after shifting cities.

  1. PAN (do this next)
  2. Online using uidai.gov.in (with registered mobile & address proof) OR at nearest Aadhaar centre. Takes 7–14 days. Address proof: rent agreement, electricity bill, gas connection. Fee: ₹50.

  6. Take current DL, proof of address, Form 33 (online download), Aadhaar to nearest RTO for visit. Fee: ₹500. Time: 21–30 days. For inter state move: "Change of Residence" form 33 + NOC from old RTO is required.
  7. Voter ID
  8. Online filling done through nvsp.in/eci.gov.in, Form 8A (Address Change- same constituency), Form 6 (New constituency). Free. Time: 30–60 days.
  9. Passport
  10. Re-issue of passport with new address through passportindia.gov.in - Fee as per the validity of passport (1,500 to 3,000). Booklet with the same number replaced. Time: 30–60 days. Police verification required.
  11. Bank accounts
  12. Visit current branch by taking an address proof. Some banks (HDFC, ICICI, SBI) allow online via net banking. Update Linked Aadhaar/PAN as well.
  13. Insurance and investments
  14. All the above policies, term insurance, mutual funds (through CAMS/Karvy), PPF/EPF need to be updated. Leverage Aadhaar-based KYC consolidation tools, if available.
  15. Utilities at new address
  16. Electricity: new connection (RWA can help) — 7-14 days. LPG: transfer subsidy through the "portability" online — 24 hours. Internet/DTH: new connection — 24–48 hours.
